ICE-BREAKER ACTIVITIES
Activities such as 'the hula-hoop group' and parchute activities are a great way to break the barrier of shyness for many students and improve engagement and learning quality.
FUNDAMENTAL SKILL LESSON
This video shows a short lesson on fundamental skill development.
Fundamental skills are a combination of three movement skill categories including:
-
Locomotive - Walking, skipping, jumping, hopping, leaping.
-
Stability - Balancing either in one place or in motion.
-
Manipulative - Throwing, catching, striking, kicking.
(sportNZ, 2014)
These basic skills are an important part of developing children's confidence and competence in the broad spectrum of fundamental movement skills mentioned above. These can then be further developed into more sport specific skills and movements.
